Daily Five

Daily Five Components

The Daily 5 is a series of literacy tasks which students complete daily while the teacher meets with small groups or confers with individuals.   This structure fosters the daily habits of reading, writing and working with peers that will lead to a lifetime of independent literacy. The first task involves building stamina for reading to self.  Students are working very hard to read independently without any distractions for up to 15 minutes.  They have successfully made it to five minutes in the past few days.  We only add a minute or two each day. Check out a few of my stamina builders below.

We filled our first bucket!!!!!!
My little pieces are off to a great start!  Last week, we discussed ways to bring joy and happiness to others around us (bucket filling).  We also shared ways to bring others sadness (bucket dipping).  Ask your child how you can fill someone's bucket.
