Old Fashion Fun!

Nothing like community building on a day like this!

Counting Collections

Why Count Collections?  Children need many and varied experiences counting in order to build a solid foundation for future concepts in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.  We count collections a few times a week and share our counting strategies. I already have some little mathematicians and they take their counting job very seriously.

Celebrating Our Constitution

I just love David Catrow!  He does some of the coolest illustrations.  The kiddos enjoyed his kid friendly version of the Preamble to the Constitution.  They were overjoyed at knowing they have the right to a good life and freedom to choose to name a few.  But, their favorite of all was our US military.  Oh boy, the conversation is endless when the Armed Forces are involved!

Human Anatomy

The kiddos did an excellent job creating their body vest!  Ask your child what they know about the digestive system.

Grandparent's Day

I want to thank each of my students' grandparents, parents, and special friends for visiting our class.  The kids thought it was an awesome day!  However, it was not a good picture day for me.  My camera had issues and so I got out my phone.  Well, I did not realize until 20 pics later that I had taken videos.  So, I saved what I could which then amounted to bad lighting. But, the joy of the day still shines through!  Please come again!!

Fun Friday!!!!

Our second "Fun" Friday was full of creativity.  Students had a blast rotating through different art activities.  "Fun" Friday is always a mystery because students don't usually know the plan ahead of time. Sometimes I surprise myself, lol.  Students have to earn enough money throughout the week to purchase this extra choice time.  They all worked so hard!!

Writing

One of our Daily Five rotations is writing.  Students learned that it's important to write about things that matter to them.  We read The Best Story and created a heart map to remind us of all the things we love. Here are a few and more are on the way.
