Rockin Resolutions

Happy New Year and Welcome Back!  Check out these cute guitars.  After the break, we decided to write "rockin" ways to become better bucketfillers in 2013.  Students also got to write their own resolutions of course but I will have to post that adorable pic soon.  I have so many pics to post but unfortunately I am out of space.  So, I will slowly be adding pics as I try and delete olds ones.  Glad to be back!

Contraction Surgery

Last week, my students all became little surgeons.  Their speciality is contractions.  First they studied contractions and on Friday that got to put their knowlege to use.  Students had to carefully take out letters and bandage areas to create a new word.  It was so much fun!

Students were introduced to the concept of a timeline through reading and retelling the events in A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle.

Cause and Effect

Students identified cause and effect relationships after listening to a Laura Numeroff favorite.

November Mystery Reader

We are so thankful for Mrs. Smith, Clay's mother, for volunteering to be our November Mystery Reader. The kiddos had a blast guessing the reader, listening to stories, and making an edible craft.  We love you Mrs. Smith!

Mrs. Smith read this holiday favorite. I have so many versions of this story and I love them all!

Thank You Veterans!

Last Monday, we learned about all the different branches of armed forces.  My kiddos were amazed at the different ways men and women serve our country.  When I asked them to use one word to describe our soldiers, BRAVE was the one word that came to their little minds.  THEY GOT IT RIGHT!

Watch Party

First graders had a watch party after their morning election.  Oh boy, the anticipation of who won was huge in my class.
